Techlan’s MD to Attend the 2025 FlexoTech Awards — Spotlight on Innovation, Sustainability and Silicone Release Paper Recycling

Techlan is excited to announce that our Managing Director, Mark Thompson, will attend the FlexoTech Awards 2025 on Thursday, 9 October in London. This prestigious event is one of the highlights of the flexographic printing calendar, celebrating the very best in print quality, innovation, and sustainability.

For Mark, it will be his first time at the Awards. Beyond the celebrations, he is particularly keen to explore the sustainability award categories—a natural fit with Techlan’s work in recycling silicone release paper and driving more circular solutions for the label and packaging industries.

Why the FlexoTech Awards Matter

The FlexoTech Awards are recognised globally for showcasing technical excellence in flexographic printing across packaging, labels, film, and paper. More importantly, they shine a spotlight on sustainability initiatives—a focus that aligns directly with Techlan’s mission. By engaging with industry peers and understanding the benchmarks set by award-winning projects, we can ensure our own services and innovations, such as Re-Liner™, remain at the forefront of sustainable progress.

Techlan’s Re-Liner™: Closing the Loop on Silicone Release Paper

At Techlan, our recycling services focus on one of the industry’s biggest hidden waste streams: silicone release paper. Used extensively as a backing material for self-adhesive labels and tapes, millions of tonnes of this paper are discarded each year. Traditionally, most of it has ended up in landfill or incineration due to the challenges of recycling silicone-coated substrates.

Our flagship product, Re-Liner™, changes that. Through a patented, chemical-free process, we recycle waste silicone release paper into a high-quality, reusable silicone release liner. This innovative approach not only reduces waste but also delivers significant carbon savings—helping printers, converters, and brand owners meet their sustainability goals.

By providing a nationwide collection service, even for small volumes, Techlan ensures that waste release paper is diverted from landfill and repurposed into a valuable resource. It’s a practical, scalable way to strengthen the circular economy and demonstrate real sustainability leadership.

Networking for a Greener Future

Attending the FlexoTech Awards gives Techlan more than just a seat at an industry celebration. It offers Mark Thompson the opportunity to connect with printers, converters, suppliers, and brand owners who share our passion for sustainability. From discussing innovations in flexographic printing to showcasing how recycled silicone release paper can be part of a greener supply chain, the event is an ideal platform to exchange ideas and forge partnerships.

We’re looking forward to celebrating the best in flexo, sharing our own sustainability story, and meeting like-minded colleagues. If you’ll also be at the FlexoTech Awards this October, be sure to say hello—Mark has promised to put his wallet to good use at the bar!
