      Supply Chain: Composites

      Silicone Release Paper (Re-LinerTM) uses in the composites supply chain

      Release liners are commonly used as mould release agents in the production of composite parts. They are placed inside heated presses and moulds before the composite materials are applied. The release liner prevents the composite from sticking to the mould surface, facilitating easy de-moulding and reducing the risk of damage to the finished product.

      In prepreg manufacturing, which involves impregnating reinforcement materials (such as carbon fibre or fibreglass) with a resin, release liners are used to protect the prepreg material until it is ready for use. The release liner is peeled off before layup, ensuring that the prepreg remains clean and uncontaminated.

      Release liners are employed during the layup process of composites, acting as temporary protection for composite materials during fabrication and handling. Once the composite is correctly positioned and adhered, the release liner is peeled away.

       In some composites applications, adhesives are used to bond different composite components or structures. Release liners serve to protect the adhesive until the composite parts are assembled, ensuring optimal adhesive performance.
