      Supply Chain: Labels

Silicone Release Paper (Re-LinerTM) uses in the Labels supply chain

Release liners can be customised to match various label shapes, sizes, and applications. They can be die-cut or perforated for specific label configurations, allowing for more versatility in label design.

This is a method of cutting through the label material but leaving the release liner intact. This process creates individual labels that are easily peelable from the backing material, making them ready for application.

The presence of a release liner makes it easier to handle and apply labels efficiently. The liner allows for smooth and precise positioning during the labelling process, reducing the chances of misalignment or damage.

Many labels are pressure-sensitive, meaning they adhere to surfaces upon application without requiring heat, water, or other agents. Release liners are essential to maintaining the adhesive’s integrity until it comes into contact with the intended surface.

In high-volume label application processes, release liners enable automation, as they facilitate the smooth feeding and application of labels using label applicators and machines.

By using release liners during lamination, the labeling industry ensures precise and efficient bonding of protective films to labels or printed materials. The liners safeguard the adhesive side of the label during the laminating process, ensuring that the label remains clean and ready for use. After lamination, the release liner is removed, leaving behind a high-quality, durable, and protected label, ready to meet various labeling applications.

Embracing Sustainability in the Labels Industry

Converters and brand owners are facing growing legislative pressure to demonstrate the sustainability of the labels industry and substrates are evolving rapidly to meet the growing number of legislative and brand mandates for the circular materials economy.

Sustainability now encompasses not only materials, but every part of the label converting process from reduction of set-up waste to more energy-efficient curing systems, to handling of self-adhesive waste.

The goal for labelling industries, with regards to reaching net zero, is to achieve carbon neutrality in their operations and supply chains. If you are a manufacturer that uses silicone release papers, then Re-LinerTM can assist you in decarbonising your products and fulfilling your journey toward net zero and assisting your automotive customers.
